The Sisters Transportation LLC is considered to be a family business and its name derives from the owner, Shatara Powell being one of five daughters and having two brothers. Although Shatara has a loving and close-knit relationship with her brothers, she is apart of a sub-family outside of the familial system with “the sisters”.  The sisters’ bond illustrates love in its purest form, in which Shatara will be indebted to the sisters forevermore. Fun Fact: All the sisters’ first names starts with the letter S. 

 

Shatara decided to start a transportation business due to transporting her daughter, Wynter 32 miles to and from school daily for 9 years. She lived out of the mile radius to participate in the school’s bus service, which was a 2.5-mile limit. After finally deciding to have Wynter privately transported to and from school, Shatara thought it would be beneficial in assisting families who needed help in this area as well. As many students have experienced, most neighborhood schools lags behind selective enrollment and level 1+ schools academically. Most students are traveling far distances in order to obtain an adequate education.

 

While developing the business plan, Shatara believed that extending services in other capacities is key to achieving a more successful outcome. The Sisters Transportation LLC service the Chicago area and surrounding suburbs providing transportation not limited to schools but in many other capacities such as casinos, airports and private events. The goal is to become the most sought-after transportation company in Chicago by providing riders with affordable prices and unmatched customer service!
